Gaahl, gay or true?

OK, we all know that Gaahl of Gorgoroth has just come out of the closet. We also know now that he is planning on releasing a clothing line with his French designer boyfriend. We also know the the biggest afront to God and Christianity would be homosexuality. So with all this in mind, this bears teh question, is Gaahl's being ghey, trve, kvlt and antichristian? Or is he just a fag?
Of course we have to look at it this way, Gorgoroth is the trvest, most kvltest, most heavy, most Satanic band out there and then Gaahl comes out about liking danglers. :O
I can't begin to answer this question. All I can say is I hope Necrobutcher from Mayhem doesn't come out to. That would be a low blow.

New Metallica

I don't how many people here have listened to the new single of Metallica from the new album Death Magnetic. I think its pretty good. I'm just not sure how "back to the roots" it is. It sounds like a newer Fade to Black. Its still not raw enough to be the old stuff. It isn't exactly Kill 'em All. I will most likely buy the album, but its just not all that roots Metallica.

Metalcore, Metal or not?

I am the first to admit that I like a bit of metalcore. I like Skinlab, Five Finger Death Punch, Lamb of God and a few others, but is it metal?
Sure Trivium and Atreyu and all that stupid shit definitely isn't metal, but what about the others? Lamb of God is considered trve metal, the others aren't, but whats the difference?
Listen to the vocals, in emo-metalcore like Atreyu or Trivium, the vocals are very highpitched and screamy, in Lamb of God, the vocals are much lower and heavier. This is the primary difference.
The vocals in Lamb of God are almost Cannibal Corpse esque. Not quite but almost. It's great just fucking great. Thats why metalheads are hypocritical in their music, because of these subtle differences.

rap/hip hop/trip hop's place in metal

now many of us like rapcore and rap metal and stuff like that. I am personally a big fan of Insane Clown Posse and eminem.
I guess what I'm asking is why metal (and I mean metal not fuckin mallcore shit like Slipknot and KoRn, both of which are firmly rooted in rap) and rap have this rivalry. Both of them are trying to be more extreme. And frankly it pisses rap off that metal really is more extreme. When you listen to metal and then rap you find that rap is weak and simple. I ahve been listening to thy Light a lot and now when I listen to Insane Clown Posse its like going from Behemoth to Thin Lizzy. Just really really polar opposites.
Why is rap more simple then metal? Well I think, (remember this is my blog and therefore my opinions are the ones that matter, got a problem with that? Then comment on it) that its because almost all rap can be made on a computer and played off a syntheizer, which is something that many rappers do. Thats why they perform on an empty stage. Metal is harsh, raw, fast, animalistic and much more difficult to play. I don't know if YOU have tried to do ANYTHING while headbanging but tis nigh impossible to do without hurting yourself. I know, I've done it. And these guys play very fast guitarwork with chord changes every second and many times faster. You may not like black metal but they're drumming at an incredible rate. Rap is slow and takes almost no talent to write or rap.
Next is the vocals. Listening to Conquer All by Behemoth I am left to wonder how the fuck he does those vocals. I can't make a sound like that, you most likely can't but both of us most likely can rap. because all it is is smooth talking with rhythm. Thats IT. Anf frankly I am tired of being told that the lyrics are complicated, because they aren't. Although Saul Williams is an excellent writer, but he is more spoken word then actually rap. Just something to think about dude.

so there is some info on the VAAAAAAAAAAAST differences between these two "extreme" genres.
Hail,
I was thinking, there are a lot of awesome vocalists in metal. Is there a "best" one? I think Ronnie James Dio might be able to steal that title, but he seems like such a cop out to me. What about Bruce Dickinson? Or Dee Snider, Bon Scott, Marijan H., Roy Khan, (no relation to Madelein Khan, [I can't fuckin spell]) and many, many others. I mean seriously that is unfair to just cop out to Ronnie James Dio. besides have you EVER heard him live? He sucks ass. Maybe cause he's drunk or something. But he only sounds good on record. I am so serious right no. GEDDY LEE is another guy who should totally be mentioned here.

so many things to think of

Something I need to address on here is the question that has long divided metalheads. Who gets to be called teh first true heavy metal band.
There's a lot of controversy and anger behind this, many people concentrate on where heavy metal originated and others concentrate on who made the first heavy metal music.
Here are some examples of early metal,
Blue Cheer
Jimi Hendrix
Black Sabbath
Led Zeppelin
Deep Purple
Steppenwolf
Rush

All these bands were right there at the beginning. Black Sabbath is who I think is the first heavy metal band. Although Led Zeppelin and Deep Purple along with Blue Cheer are all somehow responsible.
Who do you think was the first? And don't do a whole lot of shit about who I missed, I'm not trying to include ALL of early HM. Although at least an honorable mention should be the Kinks

The Greatest Heavy Metal Songs of all Time. (In my opinion anyway)

1. Crazy Train - Ozzy Osbourne (No matter how many times I hear this song, I always jump up and do air guitar leads all over the place. This song has a deep meaning that many people don't fully catch on to. Powerful riffs and kick ass leads. This song has it all)

2. Fairies Wear Boots - Black Sabbath (Bluesy riffs, from the greatest metal band to walk this earth. Not much to say other then, this song slays.)

3. Thus Spake the Nightspirit - Emperor (This song is an excellent example of what Emperor is capable of. Excellent symphonic black metal. It is indeed Satanic but black metal always is)

4. Tyrants - Immortal

5. Seek and Destroy - Metallica

6. Straighthate - Sepultura

7. Crystal Mountain - Death

8. Run to the Hills - Iron Maiden

9. Ace of Spades - Motorhead

10. Metal Health - Quiet Riot

11. We're Not Gonna Take It - Twisted Sister

12. Ursvamp - Finntroll

13. The First Cut is the Deepest - Carpathian Forest

14. Sweet Leaf - Black Sabbath

15. Conquer All - Behemoth

16. Laid to Rest - Lamb of God

17. Hammer Smashed Face - Cannibal Corpse

18. Trollhammaren - Finntroll

19. Nattfodd - Finntroll

20. Roots Bloody Roots - Sepultura

21. Fuck Your God - Deicide

22. One by One - Immortal

23. Too Old, Too Cold - Darkthrone

24. Are You Ready? - Anal Nosorog

25. Sabbath Bloody Sabbath - Black Sabbath

for even more info on metal

watch the documentary on metal called Metal: A Headbanger's Journey, by Sam Dunn. It is so good. Very informative. hvymtlftw

You know, a lot of people think that all metal is death metal. Let me explain.
As you know the biggest sub genre of heavy metal is in fact death metal. Almost ALL metal can fall under this category. So what I am going to try to do with my limited formatting skills is make a chart of all the different types of metal and examples of such bands. Observe.
It all started with NWOBHM other wise known as the New Wave Of British Heavy Metal. this is dominated by bands like, Iron Maiden, Motorhead, Def Leppard, Diamond Head, Tygers of Pan Tang, Girl School, and others. It was like many classic Rock bands but with a heavier more melodic sound. It spawned/influenced several future genres.
Next it was Thrash metal, dominated by namely the bay area four of thrash. (Metallica, Anthrax, Megadeth, and Slayer) also bands like Overkill, Razor, Kreator, and others. They took an even heavier sound slightly less melody then the NWOBHM and spawned all of extreme metal.
Next was death metal. Morbid Angel, Sepultura, Deicide, Cannibal Corpse, Nile, Death, and others. Even more extreme and notorious. And my personal fav sub genre of metal.
Then there is black metal, which takes its roots in thrash and death metal but with a completely different twist. Satan is the main subject matter of their lyrics. Bands like Emperor, Immortal, Carpathian Forest, Burzum, Darkthrone, Mayhem, Hate, Gorgoroth, Bathory and many others. This is by far the most evil metal there is. Satan's muse as it is called by Darkthrone.
Grindcore is another step in the direction of extreme metal. It is more extreme then death metal, whilst sounding almost exactly the same. Grindcore was invented by Napalm Death, with the groundbreaking album Scum, and was continued by bands like Nasum, Leng T'che, Anal Cunt, and others. It is noisy and hardy recognizable as music. It takes influences from, death metal and hardcore punk. Especially Dead Kennedys.
Goth metal, bands like Nightwish, and Evanescence, and several others. It is symphonic in nature and fantasy-oriented.
Next there is Progressive metal, the most mature form of metal. Opeth, Coheed and Cambria,
Katatonia, Porcupine Tree, all make up this fine genre. It is intellectual in nature and the more refined of the sub-genres.
I could keep going but that would be boring. More to come I guarantee you

Metal's future of world domination

Ok I'm not really the insane. I'm a hardcore metalhead and I want to start a blog for people like me who are often called obsessed with their music. I will be updating this blog with everything I can easily find, (I'm very lazy) such as new albums of the more mainstream metal bands, (yes including mallcore) to new unknown bands that I find enjoyable and so forth. If you want to know more about metal, please for the love of God,
email me sychoschizo@hotmail.com I'd be glad to answer any questions ANYONE has with recommendations, different kinds of metal, band recommendations of just meaningless chatter. Anything you like. More soon
