I am the first to admit that I like a bit of metalcore. I like Skinlab, Five Finger Death Punch, Lamb of God and a few others, but is it metal?
Sure Trivium and Atreyu and all that stupid shit definitely isn't metal, but what about the others? Lamb of God is considered trve metal, the others aren't, but whats the difference?
Listen to the vocals, in emo-metalcore like Atreyu or Trivium, the vocals are very highpitched and screamy, in Lamb of God, the vocals are much lower and heavier. This is the primary difference.
The vocals in Lamb of God are almost Cannibal Corpse esque. Not quite but almost. It's great just fucking great. Thats why metalheads are hypocritical in their music, because of these subtle differences.

But lyrics are only subject matter, and since this is not black metal the subjecct matter isn't the main focus here. I was concentrating on the sound. Personally I regard Lamb of God as true metal. Not necessarily death metal, but definitely not metalcore. That and Atreyu sucks ass...
